Life on the Streits

Hehe....so yeah, I kind of let this go for awhile. I realized today that my last post was the first day of school - last semester. Now, I'm about 9 days out from the beginning of the spring semester....anyway, I'm hoping to start posting consistently this year. (I have no idea if anyone is still following me....if nothing else, it's a way to document life:).  Here's a quick recap of the past 6 months:  - finished my first senior semester (all virtually)  - Kirk & Lexi's wedding - traveled to Georgia and Florida over Thanksgiving (wedding + vacationing)  - Christmasy stuff  - somehow have managed to avoid COVID-19....(fingers crossed)  Yeah, it's not a long list. When you do school virtually (i.e. at home all the time), there's not much to record. Which, to be clear, is OK. (yes, I realize I'm one of those people who forgets to update:)  Bradley started classes today (where did summer go???) and this morning, instead of packing my backpack and driving to campus, I took my notebook and laptop and settled in at the kitchen table to meet my teachers and fellow students via Zoom.  I do have one class on campus, which will definitely be a breath of fresh air. I'm realizing that I need to leave the house once in awhile. My personality is such that I enjoy the go-go-go of being a college student (I actually miss the good ol' days of 3 classes everyday, bouncing between young group, class, homework, and hanging out with friends).  But even though so much is different, Christ has not changed. He is still the Giver of joy, our only Peace, our only Rock. I'm thankful that He is using COVID to remind me of that.  Anyway, yeah...it was May the last time I posted:) Here's a quick catch up:  - traveled to KC in June as part of HarvestCall's Trave...

So turns out, when you live life in quarantine, there isn't much to post about:) Still here, still alive. Finals are finished (yay!!) and I'm looking forward to starting my internship. I was scheduled to start June 1, but it's been pushed back to June 15 because of the corona virus. So....yeah. I'm definitely looking for something to do over the next three weeks. So rather than blog about my exciting quarantine life, I thought I'd throwback to January when I went to Phoenix invite. It took some convincing, but I got Eric on board and we decided to go. His grandparents winter in Phoenix, so we stayed with them and Neil picked us up from the airport. We flew out of a tiny little airport near St. Louis (Belleville - seriously, I could've ran around the entire building in less than five minutes). Our flight left right before a huge storm blew in, so we got out just in time. We arrived mid-afternoon at Mesa-Gateway airport and headed to Eric's grandpare...

Like everyone else, I thought back in January-February that this whole corona virus was just another novelty that would eventually get pushed down my news feed. It's interesting what you learn about yourself in times like this. I'm somewhat surprised at how well I've adjusted to being at home 24/7 (I haven't left our house - other than taking my car for a spin and taking walks - in probably a month).  For me, repetition leads to a fast normalization. Now that I've had several weeks of being at home, doing school online, doing church online, talking to friends online...it just seems normal to me. As if life had always been like this. It's going to feel weird when this ends and I actually start going places and seeing people.  School has moved online for the rest of the spring semester. Welcome! So this is my foray into the world of blogging:) I've wanted to start my own blog for awhile, especially after reading and keeping up with some of my cousins via blog for quite a few years. I recently found myself with a whole week of spring break and no plans (more to come on that...) so I thought now would be the perfect time!  I hope you get some enjoyment out of reading my random adventures. If nothing else, it's a platform for me to sit down and write out what's going on at school, work, etc. (Aka a lot of complaining  sharing in love about how done I am with homework....*sigh* such is the life of a college student:) So first, a little about me.....
